Ben Singh - Solicitor
Ben is the firm’s Managing Partner and also heads up our Personal Injury Department. He has always had an interest in personal injury litigation and since 1995 has practised exclusively in this field. In the same year he was accepted onto the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel. Ben has been a past Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and a past Member of the College of Personal Injury Law. He remains a longstanding member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
Ben has a particular interest in taking on matters that have been rejected by other law practices, as well as conducting more serious injury claims.
Ben received a BA (Hons) from Warwick University and was called to the Bar in 1988.
He was admitted as a solicitor in February 1991 and since 1999 Ben has been a part-time Tribunal Judge for the Social Entitlement Chamber.
James Hennessey - Solicitor
James (Jim) is a Partner of the firm and Head of our Criminal Department. For a number of years Jim served as a Probation Officer and Court Welfare Officer. He has also been a lecturer in Criminal Law at Dunstable College. Jim brings a wealth of experience to the firm and has a special interest in dealing with juvenile offenders. He is a well-respected advocate in local courts, where he is able to provide representation under Legal Aid as well as on a privately paying basis.
Jim works closely with the Police Federation in Hertfordshire and represents police officers in both criminal and misconduct hearings.
Jim has a BSc (Hons) and MA (Hons) from London University and he also has an MSc (Hons) from the London School of Economics. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1997.
Sylvia Phillips - Solicitor
Sylvia works within the firm’s Personal Injury Department. She trained with a specialist personal injury law firm in London and has 16 years’ experience conducting a wide range of personal injury claims, including amputation injury, whiplash and psychiatric injury claims. She is part of the Road Victims Trust Lawyers Probono Group representing bereaved families at inquests and is Litigator member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Sylvia has a MA degree from the University of Cambridge (Law) and was admitted to Roll of Solicitors in 2002.
Kate Kingham - Solicitor
Kate joined the firm in 2000 and has experience working within the family law department for the last 15 years. Kate is a Family Solicitor who specialises in acting for parents when the local authority is involved in family matters. Kate can provide advice and assistance for families invited to Child Protection Conferences, represents parents under the Public Law Outline and when Care Proceedings are issued, including via the Official Solicitor when required.
Kate also works closely with parents who have issues surrounding alcohol and/or substance misuse, domestic violence, mental health issues, when children have suffered non-accidental injuries and has secured successful outcomes for these parents. Kate often represents grandparents and other friends and family members seeking Special Guardianship Order, as well as parents seeking contact with a child in care, to discharge Care Orders and regarding Adoption. Kate is also a member of Resolution.
Kate first qualified as a Fellow of Legal Executives in 2008 and was admitted on the Roll of Solicitors in 2010. Kate is a Childcare Panel Member.
Natalie Whittaker - Solicitor
Natalie joined the firm in 2015, but previously worked at Darryl Ingram & Co, then Smith Brown and Sprawson. She is a Family Solicitor and has experience in all areas of family law including divorce, matrimonial property, children, domestic violence and co-habitation disputes. She can also assist clients in Change of Name Deeds and Statutory Declarations. Natalie now primarily deals with private family law.
Natalie qualified with a LLB (Hons) at the University of Hertfordshire and attended Guildford College of Law where she obtained her LPC with a commendation. She was admitted on the Roll of Solicitors in May 2003.
Ruth Hinchliffe - Trainee Chartered Legal Executive
Ruth joined the firm in 2010 and works in the Personal Injury Department as a Trainee Chartered Legal Executive having completed the CILEx Level 3 Professional Diploma in Law and Practice achieving a distinction in Civil Litigation.
Ruth deals with many aspects of Personal Injury claims, particularly road traffic accidents, claims involving minors, workplace and highways accidents.
Ruth is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
Ian Jackson - Solicitor
Ian Jackson has a wealth of experience of motoring, regulatory and transport law, much of which was gained during his 12 years in the Metropolitan Police, of which 9 years were spent in Traffic, where he received specialist training.
Since leaving the police service Ian has qualified as a solicitor and built up a reputation for thoroughly examining and vigorously testing the prosecution case.
Ian was admitted on the Roll of Solicitors in 2011.
Samantha Martin - Solicitor
Prior to joining the firm in 2008, Samantha worked for a specialist family practice in Stevenage for six years. Samantha is a solicitor in our Family Department and practices in all areas of family law. She specialises in cases regarding children. Samantha is on the Family Law Panel and is also a Childcare Panel Member.
Samantha qualified with BA (Hons) and was admitted on the Roll of Solicitors in 2007.
Vyonne Manuel - Trainee Solicitor
Vyonne joined GC Solicitors in February 2016 and has recently become GC Solicitors' trainee solicitor. She will be assisting the different departments of the firm in rotation. She currently is assisting in Criminal Defence and Motoring Law.
Rosalind Fitzgerald - Consultant Solicitor
Rosalind Fitzgerald is a family law specialist consultant solicitor. Rosalind has over 14 years of family law experience, including several years with a top Legal 500 London firm. Now as a local resident she brings that experience to GC Solicitors in Letchworth.
Rosalind has particular expertise in financial matters, including pensions. She is dedicated to finding cost effective, pragmatic solutions that allow her clients to move on with their lives in a dignified way. She is a trained mediator, as well as being experienced and effective in all types of negotiations. She is sympathetic and child focused in all types of private law disputes about children.
Whether dealing with properties abroad in divorce, or in applications for permission to take children abroad permanently or temporarily, or in child abduction matters, Rosalind also has considerable experience in international family matters.
She has a 2:1 degree in Land Economy and Law from Cambridge University (Magdalene College), and studied for her Legal Practice Diploma at BPP Law School. A number of Rosalind’s previous cases have made the news headlines and been reported in the law reports, including in the appeal courts.
